CodeYQR is a student-led initiative focused on creating opportunities for young people to explore technology, develop practical skills, and showcase what they build.
CodeYQR is run by a student organizing team based in Regina, Saskatchewan. We're not a big institution — we're a handful of students who care about giving Grade 8–12 students in our city a real, welcoming way into building things with technology.
Before CodeYQR, our team organized Campfire Regina, the first Hack Club hackathon held in Saskatchewan. It was a small event, but it gave our team firsthand experience planning a technology event from the ground up — promotion, logistics, volunteers, food, prizes, and everything in between.
CodeYQR is what we're building next, using what we learned — with a stronger recruitment strategy, a larger volunteer and mentor network, and a more structured participant experience.
We're working with Glocal to help students across Canada volunteer and support the cause of our organization. This lets CodeYQR operate through a community-driven, volunteer-based model.
We're also currently awaiting approval to join Hack Club Bank, a program operated by Hack Club, a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. If approved, Hack Club Bank would provide financial infrastructure and nonprofit fiscal sponsorship to help us safely receive, manage, and spend funds for our educational programs and events. Hack Club Bank is not yet a confirmed partner — we'll update this page the moment that changes.
Together, these partnerships are meant to help establish CodeYQR as an effective way to make technology and innovation more accessible to high school students in Regina — starting with our upcoming Fall 2026 hackathon.
