CodeYQR is a student-led initiative creating more opportunities for young people to explore technology, develop practical skills, and showcase what they can build.
Turn weird ideas into real projects — apps, games, art, whatever you're into.
Try new things, learn new skills, and figure stuff out as you go. Nobody expects you to already know it.
Meet other students who are just as interested in building cool things as you are.
You don't need to have been coding since you were six. Whether you've never opened a code editor, love designing things, have a crazy idea, or already build projects for fun — there's a place for you here.
This fall, we're bringing high school students together in Regina for a day of building, creativity, problem-solving, snacks, and hopefully some pretty cool projects.
You don't need to be the kid who's been programming since elementary school.
The hackathon is designed for high school students.
We're building something for young people in and around Regina.
Beginners are absolutely welcome — genuinely.
Don't have a team? That's fine. We'll help.
Before CodeYQR, our team organized Campfire Regina — the first Hack Club hackathon held in Saskatchewan. It was a small event, but it gave our student organizing team firsthand experience planning a technology event from the ground up: promotion, logistics, volunteers, food, prizes, and event operations.
Our next event is designed around those lessons — a stronger recruitment strategy, a larger volunteer and mentor network, and a more structured participant experience.
Four ways to be part of this — pick whichever fits.
You're a Grade 8–12 student who wants to build, learn, and meet cool people.

A hackathon is an event where people team up to build a project — an app, game, website, whatever — over a set amount of time. You don't need to finish something perfect. You just need to build something.
